The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is hosting the 43rd National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend on May 4-5, 2024, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This event is held to honor firefighters who have died in the line of duty. This year, 89 firefighters who passed away in 2023 and 137 firefighters from previous years will be remembered.

Among the honorees are several Florida firefighters:

- Engineer/Paramedic Douglas Clemmons from the Polk County Fire Department

- Firefighter/EMT Austin Duran from the Apopka Fire Department

- Lieutenant James Hunt from the City of Melbourne Fire Department

- Battalion Chief Terryson Jackson from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Department of Fire/Rescue

- Deputy Chief Robert Low Jr. from the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District

- Engineer/Paramedic Jeremy McKay from Clay County Fire Rescue

- Captain Richard "Brian" Wolnewitz from Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue
