Hurricane Rafael Approaches Gulf, Flooding Risks Ahead

Hurricane Rafael is projected to move into the Gulf of Mexico tonight, according to the 4 AM advisory from the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, Florida. The storm is expected to strengthen as it shifts northwestward across western Cuba.

Heavy downpours are anticipated to affect communities from northeast Florida to southeast Georgia starting this afternoon and continuing through Thursday. There is a risk of localized flooding, particularly in southeast Georgia, the Suwannee Valley, and other urban or flood-prone areas.

Weather warnings associated with this event include high rainfall, potential localized flooding, and a high risk of rip currents along the coast. Residents in affected areas are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
